If only belief

It’s only a fragment
A particle of insignificance
Drifting along the rim
Floating within your indecision

Corroding slowly
Taking every vein captive
Just a silent revolution
Until you are slain
Never to remain again

Burnt from the inside out
No prisoners, beyond all doubt
The end, the complete end of the line from here
Nothing left, not even fear

So will you remember me
… and all the blackness of my heart?
I know you could recall..
The lowest of lows before the fall
Not that, that really matters now

All we needed was something to believe in
Inspiration from outside our sphere
Reason to be more than we could of dreamed
Still, it was not to be

It’s only a fragment buried in your eye
Just as black as the wretched sky
