Black Rose

Yes, she says...
She swears by the moon; the stars: the sea
Her love as endless;.... as eternity.
She paints her words... in colors so bold
Promises spun.... like threads of gold

She’d fight the storms; she’d face the night
Trade her shadows for his light...
But when the world catches a glimpse
The truth unfolds... the story limps.

And when you take it out to the open
You see her vows were softly spoken.
She only wants to be adored
To hear sweet words... like "You’re my reward."
Never chose him… oh no, not him
She only wants her cup to brim.

She seeks the warmth; the tender embrace
But not the man... just his grace
She craves a crown; a throne; a scene
To play the queen; not to build the dream
or better still; not with him

And yet.. he stands; so blind... so still
Believing in love, against his will.
Hoping the one who holds his heart
Would heal the cracks; not tear it apart.

But love; my friend... is a fickle game,
A fleeting fire; a whispered name.
And I hope you'd find; the one you'd love
Someone who soars your soul above.
Someone who'd walk; not just be carried
Someone who’d stay; not just get married.

But if you search the skies and the sea
Let me confess; it won’t be she
For she is the shadow; the fleeting muse
The bittersweet note in a heart you’ll lose.
