Only At The Surface

It never really stops does it?
This need to be seen
to be cherished in some way

But in these fickle times
in considerations sporadic
we really don't get to the meat
of what we're all about

The surface rarely tells the story
fears and expectation
clouding this process

And if no one asks any questions
how to we get beneath this
to the good, messy parts?

Our tears and laughter
can both be a gateway,
sometimes vulnerability
can enhance sensitivity

In the end,
do you really want to prove your value
or should it already be earned?
