THE RIGHT DOSE
The difference between being their medicine
And being the poison that fills their veins
Is the dose you're willing to give them
It's knowing when they need a shoulder to cry on
But also when they need a kick up the arse
~
It's knowing everyone will fall at some point
But a helping hand isn't always the answer
Sometimes they need to rise on their own
To truly understand how strong they really are
A warrior sometimes has to fight without a shield
~
It's about still being there in the crowd
Letting them know you're their cheerleader
Even though you can't help them on the pitch
That support that's coming from the sidelines
Will help motivate them to keep on trying
~
It's giving them pure and tough love equally
Letting them know they can come and talk
Yet not just saying what they want to hear
It's about listening to what they actually say
Then helping them find a way to move forward
~
Because if you give too much of one or the other
They'll either see you as a crutch to lean on
Or you'll escalate their emotions evenmore
Each one of these can be the killer dose
The poison dart that hits straight into the heart.
