There were words on your face
Now I can't find a trace
I wonder what you keep inside
Do you have something to hide?
There's a sign in your eyes
A sadness in disguise
I wonder what you've tucked away
Do you have something to say?
I understand your fear
A small price for a tear
Or a smile if you feel amative
Do you have something to give?
There's a song to be sung
On the tip of your tongue
Release your aria from its silent cell

Thanks for commenting! The politics of relationships... There was this woman I liked alot, I suspected she liked me, but somehow it all seemed so impossible and I felt like I was forbidden to ask her out, for reasons not mentioned in the poem. But when she looked in my eyes, I felt like she wanted to speak the words not allowed to be spoken. Then it would all have to be hidden away, like a crime thst needed to be swept under the rug. jj
