Tissues Please
I lie in bed sans clothing
Watching, listening, smelling as she prepares for work.
It starts in the half dawn light when she lifts her naked body to the edge of the bed.
I'm not sure if she knows I'm watching but I am.
On goes her dressing gown and off she goes to the cleaning room.
The door locks with a snap, not to keep me out but to keep the damned door closed and the light from disturbing me.
'Ok Google play radio' she says and there it is , music and the jibber jabber of morning radio hosts.
I hear the toilet flush only just above her singing to the latest 'hit' song.
I dose as the door opens and she's clothed this time. She looks at her image in the mirror and tries on different pieces of matching jewellery.
Satisfied, she goes back to the bathroom to brush her teeth and disguise her own scent with some manufacturered musk.
'ok Google stop' and the noise ceases.
I know what comes next
She moves towards the bed where I'm still lying, leans in and kisses my cheek.
We exchange "see yous" and she is gone. Her scent lingers and something stirs.
I am alone again but not lonely.Sometines I do what a man must do and sometimes I just think of you.
Women if they dare leave the house unadorned will be scorned by the sisterhood...tough being a woman these days.
