Hat Man
He spends his time lurking in dark shadows of corner closets.
His hat wide brimmed in felt, his cloak always covering his body.
Few, or maybe many have seen him through out the ages.
Gripping hearts with fear, his silent presence intimidating.
I remember one night, at a tent revival, the preacher talking to him after service, he told a few in the congregation the next night that the man didn't have a face. I seen him, well only his backside anyways, I was about 5 years old, as the preacher was talking to him just at the edges of the arena, where the darkness met the lights of the event. I could only see his backside, his black hat and his cloak, as a child I wondered on his attire, but was never judgemental. After all, I had seen black be washed white as snow at these events, so it wasnt strange to see darkness in different forms at tent revivals. When I heard that he didn't have a face, my imagination ran wild as to why. He didn't show the preacher his face until after he was finished speaking with him, then he looked up from under the dark hat and frientened even the dedicated minister of the Lord.
Throughout the years, I've come to realize there have been many other people from around the world who have seen this strange figure.
I still wonder why he doesnt have a face, I mean so many things run through my mind when I think on it. Like Scripture says, in the beginning, darkness was upon the face of the earth, then God says, let there be light, then the earth became beautiful. This is the faith and hope I have for the faceless man.
I pray that God sheds light and helps him and if darkness has stolen everything from him, that God restores to him his joy, his life, his love.
If he has committed dark works, I pray he's forgiven, and that he remembers who it all came from in return. God of Abraham
Then again, maybe that's just my five year old self speaking.
I don't know, but what I do know is this, there's nothing too dirty, or too far broken that can never come back home and find peace.
I believe that, with all my heart.
I love God of Abraham, and I believe in Jesus his son.
❤️
And I pray the hat Man finds light.
