Where saints did sing
And angels sighed
Now shadows cling
Where light has died
Once, walls of gold
And domes of flame
Held prayers untold
In Heaven’s name
But silent now
These arches weep
In solemn vow
In hollowed sleep
The Theotokos
In sorrow’s grace
Her gaze bestows
Upon this place
O voices lost
Return once more
Bring back the cost
Of faith and lore
For I would rise
In hymn and light
To pierce the skies
And end this night
And angels sighed
Now shadows cling
Where light has died
Once, walls of gold
And domes of flame
Held prayers untold
In Heaven’s name
But silent now
These arches weep
In solemn vow
In hollowed sleep
The Theotokos
In sorrow’s grace
Her gaze bestows
Upon this place
O voices lost
Return once more
Bring back the cost
Of faith and lore
For I would rise
In hymn and light
To pierce the skies
And end this night
