Granite in the Distance
Granite in the distance
Far away pick up a pebble
But it’s not one to skip across
The still water in the night
For it raises a black hood
Kneel before satan and God
And plead to purgatory
My head says heaven
My soul says hell
Only hope my heart can pull apart
And split the divide
As I make sure they’re ok
Wrestle with demons in my head
As they pin me down
I flip around stand tall
Pick up the Cross of my savior
Down below I see fires burning
Dancing above as a flame licks my feet
An Archangel sits upon heaven
As I grow near pebble becomes
A grey boulder with a name on it
Seems to be someone I know
But I can’t see names or granite
A leaf falls through time and
It all comes into focus
Squint my eyes brush off the dust
See my name pushing up daisies
Far away pick up a pebble
But it’s not one to skip across
The still water in the night
For it raises a black hood
Kneel before satan and God
And plead to purgatory
My head says heaven
My soul says hell
Only hope my heart can pull apart
And split the divide
As I make sure they’re ok
Wrestle with demons in my head
As they pin me down
I flip around stand tall
Pick up the Cross of my savior
Down below I see fires burning
Dancing above as a flame licks my feet
An Archangel sits upon heaven
As I grow near pebble becomes
A grey boulder with a name on it
Seems to be someone I know
But I can’t see names or granite
A leaf falls through time and
It all comes into focus
Squint my eyes brush off the dust
See my name pushing up daisies
