no real critique

Why is it that it’s oh so rare
that  those on DUP
who in reply to plain requests
from posters here
for honest  criticism of their work
respond with  thoughtful
well informed,  articulate analysis
of how and why a piece
succeeds (or fails) to show
poetic art?

Is not the answer to my question that
most of the readers on this site
are clanging amateurs
too unfamiliar with the rules
of what Pope called “the dance”
and who have no idea of
the steps to take
and what to say
to let a person see
that he (or she) possesses (or does not)
the set of sills
so requisite
to make a piece effective and enchanting
poetry,
and so can muster nothing more
than “boo” or “yay”
