Mountain Laurels
Summer lingers
Days still sunny and warm
And time, it seems to crawl
As seasons drift to fall
Golden haze hangs over distant fields
Thoughts of you slipping through the veil
Of passing days and hours
While trees hold green a moment more
Mountain laurels dance
By warm breeze swayed
Beneath blue skies
Laced with clouds
And still beside the road
Courses of wild flowers grow
You're like them you know
Unlooked for, beautiful
Thoughts wherever I go
We're like them
We earthbound seekers of heaven
Sun and moon
Which mark the passing time
Dreams and day dreams
Save where sunlight merge with night
Ours the twilight
My light baths your softer glow
Til we dissolve
As shadows fall
Those sometimes
When stars like hearts align
Let us summer one day more
Tangled wild roses
While butterflies flutter
I would drink the dew of your kisses
Days still sunny and warm
And time, it seems to crawl
As seasons drift to fall
Golden haze hangs over distant fields
Thoughts of you slipping through the veil
Of passing days and hours
While trees hold green a moment more
Mountain laurels dance
By warm breeze swayed
Beneath blue skies
Laced with clouds
And still beside the road
Courses of wild flowers grow
You're like them you know
Unlooked for, beautiful
Thoughts wherever I go
We're like them
We earthbound seekers of heaven
Sun and moon
Which mark the passing time
Dreams and day dreams
Save where sunlight merge with night
Ours the twilight
My light baths your softer glow
Til we dissolve
As shadows fall
Those sometimes
When stars like hearts align
Let us summer one day more
Tangled wild roses
While butterflies flutter
I would drink the dew of your kisses
