Lost In The Crowd

(Written for Childhood Holiday Competition)

People rushing, crushing
Laughter permeating the air
With the chatter of excitement
They're coming
A spectacle of noise and colour
Cartoons come to life
On parade for us to watch
Pushing, pulling, sneaking through
Just to get a better look
They're here
Sibling laughter turns to screams
A parade of nightmares to little eyes
"Don't look!"
Fingers slipping
From parental grip
I have to get a closer look
Cruel magic on display
I have to get closer, closer
Caught up in the moment
In the magic
In dreams and nightmares
I'm lost in the crowd
