Cracked
Hindsight’s always in the rearview mirror
Chasing dreams into the great wide open
Where living fast can lead to dying young
And surviving the game leaves ya broken
Every single night spent painting the town
Against all odds there was no danger found
Sooner or later you’re bound to get caught
Ending up face down on fractured ground
There is no rewriting the ending on this one
That one decision that you can’t take back
Dirty choices made in a weakened moment
Is when all the fragile souls begin to crack
Chasing dreams into the great wide open
Where living fast can lead to dying young
And surviving the game leaves ya broken
Every single night spent painting the town
Against all odds there was no danger found
Sooner or later you’re bound to get caught
Ending up face down on fractured ground
There is no rewriting the ending on this one
That one decision that you can’t take back
Dirty choices made in a weakened moment
Is when all the fragile souls begin to crack
Author's Note
Late night musing. Remember to be careful out there when it comes to dealing with other peoples souls. We're all fragile enough to crack, if the hurt is for real.

Superbly crafted Damian, the pitfalls of life, I'm hoping as we get older, we become wiser 🙃

Great piece, Damian, I believe we all are a little fragile.
"There is no rewriting the ending on this one" > this line hit hard. If only we could rewrite our lives or at least a few pages, but then again: would it be our life? See, you made me ponder...

Great story, Shiloh. I do remember Adam Ant, and that song as well. And that's a nice comeback. You didn't miss much. Not that there wasn't any good times, or funny stories. They were aplenty. But becoming addicted?, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. It's looking back and knowing what it cost you, that sticks with you. I'm not bitter though, going through it made me who I am. It's all just therapy every time I write. Thanks so much for your kind words and continued support. Appreciate you.

Beautiful sentiment, Damian. Rarely do some consider the consequences of their actions and how they will affect others.
I am constantly telling my grandson, now in high school, to be careful with young girl's hearts. His response, "Nana, I'm only 14". Good answer! Wait as long as possible!

It was a good answer. Not considering consequences, that's dangerous. That's very true, especially if you get alcohol involved. You add that into the equation and bad judgement on top of it, it's a Molotov cocktail for sure. I have a few regrets myself, I think it's kinda par for the course in life. Thanks so much for your kind words and continued support, Tams. Appreciate you.
