let it in
let it sink its dirty nails in
and infect you quickly
or slow
it'll be the smile
that strolls your eyes
when the coffee is cold
and you don't care
(coffee can't wake you)
let it unfold you
iron your creases
curl you at the edges
you'll put on that shirt
you always hated
because today
it's ugly purple
appeals
there's nothing more comforting
than a guarantee
of a heart's devotion
as it reaches a beat faster
when you pursue that thought
take a walk in the piss warm rain
still in the morning shorts
hardly even noticing
you are swimming on your feet
fuck your favourite songs
and their hooks
fuck your favourite books
about times you'll never see
fuck drugs and whiskey
and wobbling through the earth
it all means nothing
without it
let love open you
like a spring's blossom
in the first wash of Sun
even if you burn
or dry out
or it eats you from the inside
let it in
at least for a minute
and infect you quickly
or slow
it'll be the smile
that strolls your eyes
when the coffee is cold
and you don't care
(coffee can't wake you)
let it unfold you
iron your creases
curl you at the edges
you'll put on that shirt
you always hated
because today
it's ugly purple
appeals
there's nothing more comforting
than a guarantee
of a heart's devotion
as it reaches a beat faster
