Slip Away
We had a love that felt like it could conquer time
We danced in circles 'round our fears,
around our dreams
I would’ve given you the sky, torn at the seams
You brought light into my darkest night
Now, dim the moon, for it’s lost its light
It aches so deep
All the mountains we climbed,
every tear, every sigh
Now, with you gone, how do
I even say goodbye
I searched for reasons, asked the poets,
asked the wise
They said, “Love is always weighed
in loss and goodbyes”
And when the world was cold and gray
You found a way to chase the clouds away
But it aches so deep
To let a soul slip away
We danced in circles 'round our fears,
around our dreams
I would’ve given you the sky, torn at the seams
You brought light into my darkest night
Now, dim the moon, for it’s lost its light
It aches so deep
All the mountains we climbed,
every tear, every sigh
Now, with you gone, how do
I even say goodbye
I searched for reasons, asked the poets,
asked the wise
They said, “Love is always weighed
in loss and goodbyes”
And when the world was cold and gray
You found a way to chase the clouds away
But it aches so deep
To let a soul slip away
