And your passion
can take a walk
along my garden gate

anytime

where lust
and experimentation
simply could not wait
for wads of cash
and hidden nests
of our affection
and tales we'd tell
the starstruck children
with our remedies.

But this would be an alternate universe.

We would feed the hungry
and I would be a Dutch citizen
and you would be gay,
overpoweringly so
and I would laugh and blush and smoke
as you danced and drank red wine on
the edge of our Tibetan cliff.

Reality would not face us,
would not deface us, beauty.

Spark the dazzlingly sky,
open the portal like an Avengers' spin off
and we could show the backwards world
how active we could be.
I'd help old ladies cross the street
and sing in the kitchen most of the day
while you sat in the sunshine
and wrote poems I could not
dream up myself.

But this would be an alternate universe.
Reality would not face us,
would not deface us, oh, beauty.
