Image for the poem grief

grief

letting you go immerses me in sadness
a kind of black I can't bear
Your deepest parts are attached to me
you exhale I breathe in deep

your love is the starlit heavens
I sing to the melody of hope you give me
lingering in the memories of your beauty
I kept every moment in a diary of dreams

a little sorrow never hurt anyone
but mine has turned to madness
thinking of life without you

sadness turns within my sacred places
something is missing
it's your crooked smile to make me laugh

in the light of gloom in a room at noon
the emptiness of it causes my heart to falter
without you our house has no life

grief-stricken I seek you in my thoughts
it hurts all the more
because I can still hear your laughter

the rooms seem bigger and emptier without you
I never realized you were the happiness in our place
I dwindle left behind to keen for your embrace
