By the Salish Sea
Vancouver Island in the morning
across the Salish Sea
in the haze of summer's dawning
as I'm drinking tea
contemplating what's before me -
a ship goes sailing by,
gulls are screeching more and more the
unanswered question why
the noise, do they see something
that I cannot see
perhaps an eagle, still there's nothing
visible to me
except the water lap lap lapping
gently on the shore
something somewhere must have happened
always there us more
going on in what's surrounding
than anyone can see
invisibly creating sound in
the natural mystery
of a haze when summer's dawning
as I'm drinking tea
contemplating in the morning
by the Salish Sea....
