Desiccated
burning outside in
breathing in satanic dust
how I long for rain
pelting me with cold life force
hydrating my soul
breathing in satanic dust
how I long for rain
pelting me with cold life force
hydrating my soul
Author's Note
Update: This is the 2nd time it's rained after I've written a whiny poem. Only about a thimble full of rain, but I'll take it.
Experimenting with tanka. And once again griping about summer in Phoenix- but you would too if you had to live with dust storms and highs over 110 every day.

We have a storm coming in, you can have some of Florida's rain. Seriously. Have some! My first day out and about this weekend and ... so much rain.
Sadness and soggy bread.
I liked the format.

Yeah, Arizona needs to import some rain from Florida. I get it. Any kind of obnoxiously persistent weather sucks.

I would trade you a day in a heartbeat! It is literally mucky and humid and storms day in and day out here. Especially today!
If I had the arm, I would gladly toss you limitless water balloons!
Stay hydrated and cool. Shade is everything!

Thanks. Shade is a precious commodity here. Tomorrow is the first day of school, and the kids won't be able to go to recess because of the excessive heat warning, Guess where my class will have recess instead? That's right, in my classroom. Yay! The principal did promise us a full 15- minute lunch though, so life is good. Guess it would be the same in Florida, except for rain.
