Elysian Afternoons

It seemed like Olympus in a cloud form
busting up in the sunset silver west
after a couple days of mild storm
which gardeners and gardens know is best
for a late July renaissance of blooms;
a last minute resurrection of hope
for desiccating yard biota dooms
in drouthy dog day pollinator scope
under a sky regatta of Zephyrs
slowly prying apart the marbled puffs
drifting above the dairyland heifers
and putting greens amid the fairway ruffs,
steeped now, in Arcadian breezes blown,
as heavenly as starlet kisses sown.
