The Aliens Have Arrived

Yelling cursing, noise level terror
Then he hits her
She cries
Things get quiet, then it starts again
Locked in his room, the boy sits on the floor next to his bed
That's the place he goes when they go at it
Mother & Alien, this man/boyfriend
This thing that watches TV or it's i-phone and drinks long cans of malt liquor in the dark
Sometimes the Alien is there when his mother isn't
The Alien doesn't talk
The Alien drinks, beats mother & watches TV
The boy knows that he's lucky the Alien doesn't beat on him
Other Aliens have beat on him several times when walking home from school
He has the marks & bruises to show
He figures that all Aliens are here to make life as hard as possible
