TONIC

I feel them in the breeze
Blasting through my hair
I hear them in the trees
Whistling as I stare
As a thunder cracks
Behind my back

Always my flame ascends
To light the darkest eyrie
Always the river bends
My tonic of rosemary

I taste them in my mouth
Wicked words exchanged
I smell them when I'm out
Only thing unchanged
As a lightning peeks
Beyond the peak

Always my shoulders ache
An anchor that I carry
Always my dreams behave
Like tonics of rosemary
