Lately
I awoke
With the sunlight on my face
Blinking through the blinding light
The oblivious seconds
Of a new fresh morning
Where the mind is clear of worry
And you feel your heart
Pounding evenly in your chest
I awoke
Retrieved my consciousness
And wanted to drown again
In dreamless sleep
Cause getting out of the covers
Means another long day
Where a single minute
Can stretch itself to hours
I awoke
And felt the air around me thicken
Turned around in my sheets
Not wanting another look at the clock
Not wanting to get up just yet
So I stay a while longer
And It feels like only minutes passed
Yet I've been lying here for hours
With the sunlight on my face
Blinking through the blinding light
The oblivious seconds
Of a new fresh morning
Where the mind is clear of worry
And you feel your heart
Pounding evenly in your chest
I awoke
Retrieved my consciousness
And wanted to drown again
In dreamless sleep
Cause getting out of the covers
Means another long day
Where a single minute
Can stretch itself to hours
I awoke
And felt the air around me thicken
Turned around in my sheets
Not wanting another look at the clock
Not wanting to get up just yet
So I stay a while longer
And It feels like only minutes passed
Yet I've been lying here for hours
