Pure Silence

His eyes used to be so warm and inviting
Now they are hard like a mighty fortress
Uncertainty fills my mind like a tidal wave
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

Tension in his body as if he's pained
Like a linebacker preparing for impact
My body shivers in fear as I gasp
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

Divorce papers hit the table like a bomb
Tears filling my eyes as I read the top line
Full Custody in bold letters screaming at me
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

His jaw is clenched  as if it were locked
What did I do to upset him so
My heart races as I try to recollect memories
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

Once there was so much love in our hearts
Kisses and hugs each morning and every night
Now it is small talk and sperate bedsheets
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

The vows that once bound us ripped apart
Burn the white gown if it makes you happy
Just please don't take our children from me
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

Have mercy on me Jack, You loved me once
Please just make this make sense to me
You're a lunatic Ella, I can't be seen with you any more
Staring at each other in Pure Silence

We can fix this Jack, if only you explain your pain
For the children let's work this out, I need them here with me
This is final, you're withdrawn and our love is gone
Staring at an empty house in Pure Silence
