Buck Moon Nights

The moon was in the weeds last night
all southerly adrift
fading amid powder blue light
which on it seemed to sift...

'twas wild smoke within the haze
that gave a scarlet hue
then dimming in the twilight rays
of moonlight streaming through.

Yet still there was a rosy glow
when once the sun had set,
the likes of which we wouldn't know
but for a chance briquette...

and lingering filtration there
due to the floating soot
all through the northwest summer air...
from canopies kaput.
