The Company At The Bottom
Sometimes I reach out to the wounded
those that have lost
or been unjustly tossed
I think of my own pain
suppressed
and never fully undressed
And I hold out my arms,
perhaps offering
what I wanted or needed
when nobody came
These flaws unhidden
for the truth in my experience
was that the only true way
to relate to another
was in the low,
not the high.
