Soul
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would have nothing left to lose,
‘Till he tries to give away his heart,
And then he loses that too.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would try to get it back,
But when it’s been torn to shreds,
It’s just not worth the effort.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would surrender to his fate,
Yet he fights through each day,
And tries to end his misery.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would just be sad and decrepit,
But he is simply lost in the world,
And trying to find his way.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would not be able to face himself,
But I’m able to do it every day,
When I look in my mirror.
Would have nothing left to lose,
‘Till he tries to give away his heart,
And then he loses that too.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would try to get it back,
But when it’s been torn to shreds,
It’s just not worth the effort.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would surrender to his fate,
Yet he fights through each day,
And tries to end his misery.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would just be sad and decrepit,
But he is simply lost in the world,
And trying to find his way.
You’d think a man who lost his soul,
Would not be able to face himself,
But I’m able to do it every day,
When I look in my mirror.
