Remembrance...

Do you recall in sunny days like these
when the brush salesman with his suitcase called,
as sheets on clotheslines dried in the warm breeze,

When onion sellers biked round the streets
the rag and bone man's balloons and his bawl,
do you recall in sunny days like these?

And the tinker with his bribe of a sweet
" bring out your Ma's knives I'll sharp sharp 'em all"
as sheets on clotheslines dried in the warm breeze.

When the coalman's horse got carrots as treats
and hopscotch courts on the pavement was scrawled
do you recall in sunny days like these?

The lucky heather seller on bare feet
you'd buy a bunch or get cussed, I recall,
as sheets on clotheslines dried in the warm breeze,

And how quickly we could run, fleetingly fleet,
When neighborhoods were places to explore
Do you recall on sunny days like these,
As sheets on clotheslines aired in the warm breeze?
