If I Stop To Remember

I have scar tissue
that spells her name,
Its valleys and peaks
landscape my core
and if I stop too long,
I'd spend a lifetime
hiking through them.

Each tree a scent
each blade of grass a memory
and the great plateau
where we parted ways
dominates all.

When sorrow dances in my bones
instinctively I move to its rhythm,
regardless if I want to or not.
