My Lifeline
there were days
when i felt utterly
lost & in despair
i was suicidal
it's music and
mostly placebo
& archive that
kept me alive
it's my saviour
the air i exhale
i speak in music
& dream in music
it's a soft breeze
a beacon in the
darkest of nights
a kind embrace
my only lifeline
and safe space
without my music
i would most likely
have ended this life
when i felt utterly
lost & in despair
i was suicidal
it's music and
mostly placebo
& archive that
kept me alive
it's my saviour
the air i exhale
i speak in music
& dream in music
it's a soft breeze
a beacon in the
darkest of nights
a kind embrace
my only lifeline
and safe space
without my music
i would most likely
have ended this life

I love this, music is soul food and has stopped mine from starving plenty of times. :)

Yes, it truly is soul food - and it connects people.

A bold and vulnerable write. I'm happy to see you on the other side.
I've been here, as i believe many of us have. Fortunately, I was able connect with others through poetry. In a lot of ways, DUP saved me.

I know more of us have been there, poets often being tormented souls.

I can’t get the YouTube link to work… can you please share the band and name of song so I can find it?
Music speaks to the soul. From my earliest memories of my Dad playing his acoustic guitar, the vibrations resonate in my heart.

Unfortunately DUP doesn't have the option to open the link by clicking on it, will message you. Music does speak to the soul and I'm happy it brought back memories.

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.
