God save the king
five days of rain
the Ohio river is
angry
the Ohio river
wants revenge
upon the
land
the Ohio river
wants revenge
on small towns
that line it's muddy,
ancient, holy
banks
rain for five days
the Ohio River opens
it's Promethian
maw
swallows deeply the
storms like a thirsty
man lost in a
desert
and grows strong
fat and
rageful
the catfish feel
it
the barges grow
uneasy
the dams and
locks tremble
knowing who is
the real king
of this
valley

Powerful, and water is. “Water is powerful. It can wash away earth, put out fire, and even destroy iron. . . .Water can carve its way even through stone. And when trapped, water makes a new way."
