Crossed woRrOADds
I'm screaming
from inside
the pretty cage you put me in.
And I'm supposed to be grateful
for the lack of choice.
A man who cannot hear me
Cannot care for me.
Should not speak for me.
You had my words
but their meaning
ran like water
through your hands.
Now we're sifting through the sand,
knocked off our feet.
And arguing over what the definition of love
Should LOOK like.
I don't have long enough to breathe,
to believe,
before the lies fly in dollar signs.
We agree I should have seen;
and would have, had I not held onto trust.
You in your paper armor
Wielding my words like a weapon against me.
I wasn't looking for blame.
I was searching for solutions.
A path.
Our ground.
Perspective the shield you choose
to block the truth;
and my words fall
Behind
like so many, heavy stones.
EVERYTHING
Should have gone into the foundation.
No wonder
it's been
so shaky
and unsafe
I'm not getting in a cage.
No matter how sharp
my tongue may have been
when that sword last left my lips.
I'm not tying my dreams
to someone who won't protect them.
No matter how high our hopes may float.
You stripped me of my integrity
with LOVE dripping blind, hungry on your lips.
I'm standing naked without consent.
Burned but bright!
Listen.
Don't try to hold a shooting star.
The only thing you accomplish
Is changing her trajectory.
