silently you retreated to the shadows
while I was distracted by the noise
I didn't see you fade
slowly into the grey

you emerged to tell me you love me
then quietly disappeared
I wish you hadn't made me aware of you

now, I feel something deep for you
my heart considers you a part of my soul
tenderly and gently admonishing me
when I disregard my feelings

it hurts knowing you care
even as broken as I am
you showed me, love,
I felt beautiful for a moment
captured in your stare

but like a ghost, you dissolve into the mists

now my soul can't find you
