Taliesin

I have known you for so long. Your velveteen seat aligned with ceramic bowls where ink leaks. Among sticks and stones lay sacred secrets. A knapsack imagined for my quest. Gaining words from farmers speaking from their lands. You became me, we became ours

From voices carried over treetops. Looking for leaves where I found you dressed in a male figure. Twice yet I have received these visions. Later ripening into adulthood I saw you as a figurine. Face of moon blending sun.
I have never feared any mischief of fairies, nor elves. All is a harmonium. If there is anything disturbing it must be our humanness

Already before I was introduced I knew his name. Far later an English professor told us old histories.. He spoke Welsh and introduced the term Brittonic. Introducing the Mabinogion. Taliesin stepped forward. He came with me to libraries where waxed hallways. Old cedar cupboards were friends among silent books.

One day he gifted me a fountain pen. Dark blue hours I wrote. Tranquility I encountered in absolution of an empty new page. My pen braided words. Hatched them like poetic eggs. I had dreams of silver sought among glistening slithers. Nestling crown and magpies. Where light winged birds soared crowns of crocus in wide vast fields.

Taliesin combed my hair with fingers ink stained. I sat beside him in pure bliss. In madness and in kindness. He became my counterpart, an inner beloved I write to. In grief struck days where we keen life. A language forms from laughter.

We bask in bark
I tiptoe out into the perimeter
we watch stars bathe
