I look Around

I look around and see acts of carnality in a full
spectrum of colors.

It has an almost humorous tone and quality to it,
wrapped at times in a banter that is light, vapid, and unfocused.
In certain instances, sadness and a
numbing claustrophobia of erotic
disillusionment is laid bare to
witness inside or out.

The sophomoric creatures use sex as a knife
to cut away the layers we would choose to
ignore for the moment to suit the ego within
as the libido goes on a wild adventure ride
however fleeting or ephemeral it may be.

Is that all there is? Really?

Can I not nail down the pathetic parts and pick up
the items that matter off the sweat stained dance
floor?

Well I can hope,
that a smile is truly a smile,
a compliment is truly a compliment,
that trust is not mislaid for only
a lay.

But I hesitate in my thoughts
as I look around the room, for
at times I wish to be closer to the
truer truth which is perpetual it
seems in this place.

I envy them at times, wondering
if their grass is greener,
for they look to be having a lot
more fun.
