Animus or Animal

With feral intensity pursuing prey              
a killers' instincts seen in eyes      
             
I chased you        
hunting you down              
never possessing enough              
to sate this animal lust    
              
taming me with your own wild passion        
becoming my all              
my purpose and being              
forever curled by your feet        
            
never understanding until too late              
that your animus so unfulfilled              
even as your animal purred      
              
animus and animal              
are not the same              
lesson learned              
just a little too late
