Alien kidnapping, or was it
Chapter 8
Sam was still smirking when a massive multitude of beings came into view. He first noticed an almost overwhelming feeling of fear, pain, and anger. What in the hell had those IP creeps done to these beings to elicit such emotions?
Shaking his head, Sam slowly lifted off the ground a few feet, looking at the vast multitude of gray people. Suddenly, he heard a shout of, "There it is! We have to destroy it before it ends our planet!"
Sam grimaced as he saw more than a few gray people point myriad weapons toward him. "I suggest that you not discharge those. The consequences of that would be deadly. So that you know, those won't hurt me, though I am afraid that the bounce back will harm many of you." Sam warned.
A youngish gray being stepped out, pointing its weapon at Sam. "Don't believe it! It's just afraid of us. Remember, the patrol promised us freedom if we kill it."
Sam was doing the best he could to hold his temper. Being called a thing was starting to wear thin on his patience. Floating to the young gray being, Sam pulled him into the open space.
"Since you think you can kill me, I'll let you have the first shot." Puffing out his chest, Sam pointed to it. "Go ahead, you were so certain; come on, kill me. I've done nothing but try to help your people. All you seem to care about is my death."
The young gray got an evil grin as it pulled the trigger, the beam at full strength! Sam could only shake his head as the beam hit him and bounced back toward the gray. The beam hit right in front of the gray and then stopped momentarily. Suddenly, it continued to vaporize what appeared to be an IP soldier.
Many in front gasped as they realized they had been lied to. Many who hadn't seen tried to push forward to see what was happening. An older gray stepped in front of them, trying to call for quiet.
"It appears that we were told a great untruth. Though they haven't always been that kind, they have protected us. This," here the elder pointed to Sam, "hasn't proven anything yet." Turning to Sam, he stated, "Though you uncovered what was a spy in our midst, that does not prove you a friend."
Sam still hadn't moved as he nodded, agreeing with the Elder. "I am well aware of this Elder. I don't wish to harm you or your people, though I will if I must. This is the third triad corner world. I am here to help establish the triad again."
The Elder's mouth hung open when Sam revealed this fact. "Only a few know of this fact; how did you acquire it?"
That would be from me and the elders of the other corner worlds, Came the thoughts of Queen Triada. Many gasps, hearing the views of the Queen. Then, in a rush, many started to move toward Sam with looks of pure hatred. Most of those raised weapons pointed directly at him.
Growling, Sam rose higher as they all followed him with their weapons. Laughing, they started to fire, even as Sam ensured each energy beam was missed.
Sam was afraid they would get a shot through even as he dodged. Sure enough, one caught Sam from behind, speeding back toward the elder!
Sam blocked the beam a few feet from the older gray as fast as he could.
Sam bowed to the elder, saying, "I apologize for not moving fast enough. I did not mean to place you in danger."
The Elder's eyes were wide with surprise when a being as powerful as Sam was apologizing! A great many near the front were also surprised, though many were still calling for Sam's death. "It appears that many still do not believe you. Please, sir, try not to kill too many."
Sam's eyes were surprised as he looked at the gray, seeing that the elder was speaking the truth. Nodding, Sam grimaced as he looked at the crowd.
Focusing harder, he saw many gray people disguised as IP troops. Growling low, Sam flew through the crowd, gathering all the IP troops he could.
Looking at the collection, Sam was surprised when he saw that more than a few hundred had been collected. Searching for the first, he soon found the hologram disguise. Again, Sam rapidly snapped off all of them, leaving all the troops shocked.
At that moment, he heard a great gasp from the crowd as they realized they had been fooled.
Then, a great many were afraid as they tried to draw back.
"Don't be fooled by what you saw!" The apparent leader of the troops shouted. "Kill him! He is an enemy; he will kill you and your children. Kill him. The IP demands it!" Suddenly realizing his mistake, the IP leader tried to amend his statement. "Kill him; he will destroy you and your planet he..."
A beam was heading toward the leader when Sam stepped before it. "Don't be a killer like they are," Sam shouted. Flying to the gray that fired, he gently took the weapon. Handing it to the leader, he smiled. Though they are your enemy as mine, do not fall to their level."
Sam turned to stare at the IP leader as he started to laugh. "Killer, enemy? As many IPs as you have killed, do you have the audacity to say that?"
Getting right in the IP leader's face, Sam sneered at him, "I killed no one who didn't attack me first! By the IP's rules, almost the entire IP should be arrested! Should I name off the over one thousand of your own rules and laws that YOU have broken? By the same rules and laws, I and the people of this world have more than a right to execute all of you right now!"
Sam knew he was on the right track when the IP leader's face blanched white. Smiling, Sam stood aside and then walked back to the gray leader. "I thank you for showing us this, though I am afraid many will still not accept you. This will go very far toward that, and I fear it will require more. If you..."
Elder? Came what seemed to be three voices.
Queen Triada? Is that you? It has been a great many periods since your thoughts graced us.
The elder's thoughts responded.
Yes, it is good to talk to your people again. Sam, when you rid their world of those, please be quick. I know that you find it distasteful.
Unfortunately, justice can be that way. Came the Queen's thoughts.
Sam just grunted as he nodded. Shaking his head, he was still having a little trouble with not speaking to communicate.
Elder, we are the leaders of the other corner triad worlds. It would greatly honor us if you and your world would join us in re-establishing our triad.
The other two thoughts spoke to the elder and most of those there.
Most of those there bowed when they heard the thoughts. The IP leader was screaming at the top of his voice. "It's a fake trick! Don't believe it!" A flash of anger crossed Sam's face as he cuffed the IP leader, knocking him out.
Suddenly, a strong stream of thoughts pushed at Sam's mind. Sam returned hard, getting even angrier, far more complicated than he meant to. Extremely far across the vast distance, Sam felt another reason scream as it died.
So you are far more potent than we at first thought. It has been a very long time since we brought the full power of the collective to bear. It will be good to have them in use again.
Unfortunately, you destroyed the weakest. We will... NO! What are you doing? STOP! AAAAAAAAAA! Sam heard the thoughts scream, and then it was quiet as he no longer felt anything from the mind either.
On the new home world of the Intergalactic Patrol, an older male was being rushed to medical services. Another older male was floating beside the first, shaking his head.
"I had warned him not to try it. Even with the increased power of the machine, I didn't feel it was strong enough." Shaking his head, the second older male touched a button on his wrist.
"It appears we may lose the seventh council. It appears that the triad that has appeared has weakened his abilities. Yes, I realize that. Do you have another in line for it? I realize it has been such a long time. Alright, I'll look into it."
The second male took one last look at the seventh council and then turned to talk to the attendants.
"On orders established by the first Heptad council, if there is no response within two solar times units," the older man looked around. "You are advised to terminate any support systems."
The attendant’s eyes went wide, and then they nodded. This was one of the seven sector councils; to disobey was an immediate death sentence. Bowing to the older man, they responded. "It will be as you order, council, sir."
The older man looked closely at the attendants, seeing fear and obedience in their eyes. Now, if the rest of the seven sectors would just come under control, this news that Clive Stone was out there, AND it was immune to practically all weapons, was troubling. Shaking his head, they had two solar time units to wait, though he had no hope of the seventh council returning.
The council boarded a special transport that took him swiftly across the planet. ‘Might as well get this over with,’ he thought, moving to a plain door. Placing his hand on the door, a tone sounded, and then the door slid open, revealing a young, almost identical-looking version of the male in the medical center.
The young male's face was angry at first, but then he recognized the council. Bowing low, the male stated through tight lips, "I am honored to have you here, council, sir. How may I best serve you?"
The council nodded; the conditioning hadn't taken as he thought it wouldn't. "You may be called to council soon. I suggest you prepare to get yourself appropriately attired for one of the positions."
"So the seventh is dying, another of our hair-brained ideas. You'd think that after all this time, we would learn." The young male stated, not looking up. He might be in a position for the council appointment, but he still didn't have it. One wrong word before that appointment, and he'd be recycled but quickly!
The older council nodded; who better to know than oneself? "As I said, be ready and advised that Thantas has escaped three and possibly four times. If you are appointed, we will seek your input on this. For now, be prepared for the downloading."
The young male nodded, still not lifting his head. The fact that the council had come to him was promising. "Yes, council sir, I will indeed be ready."
The young male’s eyes showed an evil glint as a wicked smile lit up his features.
The elder council watched every move the young male made. Nodding, he was somewhat satisfied as he left in a hurry.
Thantas was stretching out, testing precisely what she could do without detection. She was much further into records, commands, and orders. Many things were starting to become much more apparent to her now. She could almost see what the IP had been up to all these centuries.
Reaching out, Thantas was quickly able to reach Drivas and Thallus. I believe I have information that might prove valuable. She told the both of them.
Do you think it prudent for us to know right now? As you said, we are barely at the most substantial IP level. Compared to you, we are nothing, especially Sam. His mind is the most powerful I have ever felt. A shaking Drivas told Thantas.
I know all of this will help raise both of you higher. If they try to force me to destroy you, I want you strong enough to resist. At the moment, you are almost the strongest before me and Sam. You should move past the other level five within a few days. Then, we can start to work on your stories. Thantas was quiet for a few moments as she thought. I believe you are correct, Drivas. We will strengthen both of you before I let you have the information.
Drivas breathed a sigh of relief; even as strong as they were, they knew they were no match for Triot. There was also the army of techs that he had.
No, they needed to be more substantial to take on the sub-commander.
Thallus was in shock when she could hear Drivas's thoughts. "Commander? Are we sure about this? Against a lower officer, yes, this is the second command tier officer. If we fail, then we are both dead. I might be strong, though I am nowhere as strong as you."
"I feel it will be alright, Thallus. Something about Sam makes Thantas far more confident than at the start of this." Drivas told Thallus. "I have heard that when Thantas is this confident, it is almost certain that it will happen."
Thallus was silent for a bit, then she turned to Drivas, "I hope so, Commander; I hope so. I am not sure I am ready to die yet."
No, my dear Thallus, I am not ready for that to happen to you yet. Thantas told a shocked Thallus.
Most of the IP prisoners were lined up, and most were sneering at the grays that were holding weapons on them. Sam stood back as he watched the proceedings.
Suddenly, the voice of the IP leader was assailing Sam's ears. "So, too much of a coward to complete what you started? You are the last of AN ultimate loser race. Come on, kill me! I fired at you. Come on, you coward, kill me!"
Sam just smiled as he floated toward the IP leader, gripping his jaw. "Oh, I would have, though it would have been far too quick. No, I think that the torture that these people are going to put you through is a far better death!"
"You are supposed to be a noble race. What of compassion and mercy?" The leader spits out at Sam.
Again, Sam smiled as he looked at the line of men. "I believe this law should concern you the most: law five thirty-three, sub-clause four, paragraph one. The wholesale torture, death, or attempted death of a person is punishable by death. The sentence is to be carried out by the said magistrate of the indigenous people. The magistrate may choose what form of death punishment will be used."
The IP leader's mouth hung open, and then he laughed. "No one knows the laws without a computer; that's the only way anyone could know. You..."
Sam held up a comp display with all the laws, five thirty-three, and sub-clause four for the IP reader to read. As Sam watched the man read, his face blanched, and he saw that the man read on further. Stopping, the man then started laughing. "There is no magistrate on this planet. There hasn't been one in quite a long time. Therefore, there is no basis to enforce this law!"
Sam again smiled as he slapped the IP leader, effectively quieting him. "The gray you see before you are the last magistrate left on the planet." The gray elder and the IP leader looked at Sam with a look of shock.
"No!" The IP leader whispered as the shocked gray nodded to him.
"It is time; those that killed so many of my people are punished." the gray elder said as he waved his hand. There was the sound of more than a few energy weapons being discharged. Then came the screams of several hundred men as the plasma they were hit with began to eat away at their bodies slowly.
Drivas and Thallus watched in orbit as the energy slowly consumed the men. They were both cringing at the screams they heard as the men started to fall. The power began to eat through their spines. Both shuddered. It was a hell of a painful way to die, that was for sure.
Sam was about to ask the elder if there was anything more he could do when there was a commotion at the back of the crowd. Sam had started to move, then stopped looking at the elder. "Go; I allow you to do all you can to stop this." Then the elder leaned close again, repeating what he'd said earlier.
"Please, sir, try not to kill too many."
Sam smiled as he nodded, lifting and heading to the back of the crowd. There, he came face to face with several groups, with several females held at the end of weapons. Shaking his head, Sam felt this was going to take a while.
"You," a young, apparent group leader shouted, pointing at Sam. "You will leave, allowing the IP to return to this world. You will not interfere with them reclaiming what is theirs!"
Again, Sam shook his head at the complete insanity of what the young gray was saying. "Reclaim what is theirs? This is your world by no means theirs. Do you wish to be a slave to them? They are..."
"They are the saviors of our world! They brought order and discipline, something we had never had before. Go now, or there will be a severe shortage of female breeders worldwide." The young gray said, pressing the weapon tighter into the throat of the female it was holding.
Sam looked at all the groups there. Was there a way he just had to see it? He was swift, though he doubted whether he could do it.
When he'd done what he had in space, he had the room to maneuver here on the planet, but hardly any.
Sam was about to risk what he thought was a way to get through this when he suddenly had a thought. He nodded toward the young leader, "Alright, I'll go."
A wicked smile appeared on the young leader's face as he pressed harder, making it hard for the female to breathe. "Good! Leave before they all die!"
Sam nodded as he started to rise to the disbelief of the multitude of people there. Then Sam vanished as each group started to fall dead away from the females. The young leader suddenly found himself floating high above the ground, then higher still. "No matter what you say, I know you were working for that true cowardly Triot. You hear me, you maniacal ass? I know this is the last link you have to anything on the planet. Say goodbye!"
With that said, he spun the gray around, releasing it at high velocity toward the ground. It screamed the whole way down, and it was over very quickly.
Sam floated not too far from where the young gray's body had made a small crater upon impact. Sam was about to head back down when he felt a familiar presence. So, they have you watching me now. I'll almost enjoy the company. Ah! So, I see you have discovered they can't also follow you, Thantas. Good, I hoped the last I severed would allow you out more.
All three of the minds were shocked that they had been detected. Then Thantas felt Sam again nudging at the many machines keeping her mind captive.
Hey, asshole, Sam's thoughts almost screamed to Triot. You lost the last gray corner of the triad world. All your spies are gone, as well as those that were loyal to you. Here, I thought you were smarter than that!
Smiling, Sam sent a massive energy build-up toward the station. Triot was screaming as he was hitting several buttons to close the shield. He almost made it, too, as more than half the station went dark.
