PALESTINE:THE WOMB WHO BORE MY GOD~
My Darling in oppression,
I know you did not have a lovely Jumu'ah yesterday, and neither are you having a good time now. You're always with me in prayer, and this Sabbath, I thought to put on a sackcloth, dump ashes on my head and weep with you.
Oh my Beloved! How can I not weep with you? Are not your wounded young men my brothers? My lovers? My caretakers and my very own companion? My sons indeed! Blood of my blood! Flesh of my flesh, Life of my life!
That torn woman, wailing! sitting on rubble rocking the departed Fruit of her Womb, is she not my mother? Her wrenching pain, is it not the very birth pangs of my dear Mother? Does my Father not feel as helpless when he sees yours so broken; unable to protect his family from the wrath of tyrants?
Buried dreams of your maidens; education, work, love, marriage, children. A family! A home! the very basics of life! Are they not my very own?
Oh afflicted one! They want us to believe that this is a war of cross on crescent, so I ask your oppressors, isn't ALLAH, I AM? Isn't I AM, ALLAH? Do they suppose you and I have different God and Father? Have Ishmael and Isaac ceased to be Sons of Abraham our father? With who God made an everlasting covenant; "I will maintain my covenant with you and your descendants after you throughout the ages as an everlasting pact, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you."(Genesis 17:7)
I am aware, oh my sweet Olive, that they call you "children of darkness." Assuredly, They; your oppressors, they're the heart of darkness! For They break the very Word they profess to keep, the Word which confirms our legitimate heritage: " "When Abram prostrated himself, God continued to speak to him "my covenant with you is this: you are to become the father of a host of nations. No longer shall you be called Abram; your name shall be Abraham, for I am making you the father of a host of nations." " (Genesis 17:3-5)
And again: "I will give to you and to your descendants after you the land in which you are now staying, the whole land of Canaan, as a permanent possession; and I will be their God."(Genesis 17:8)
My beautiful one, I meant to Comfort you. But really, it is you who comforts me!
I had thought I would find you loathsome and abhorrent to our LORD. So, I bought a Qur'an and came here to wash your bruises with my tears, nurse your hurt with kisses while I balm your curses with a few Surah from your Holy Text. Instead, I heard from a far the bones of your dead proclaiming in one liberated voice: "Allahu Akbar!"
My darling Palestine; The Womb Who bore my Saviour, I had thought to bring you love, instead, you gave me Love.
Assalamu-Alaikum.
If we must stand, let us stand for love. If we must fall, let us fall in love!
