Nature’s Bounty

What a time
To be alive
Slowly awakened by rustling leaves
Swaying in the gentle fall breeze

The distant call and response;
A pair of red robins
Join in nature’s chorus
A symphony of calmness

My eyes wander through the foliage
Admiring the collage of colors
Vibrant, lush greenery greets my gaze
Surrounded by an invigorating, uplifting aura

I lethargically take a strolling glimpse
Up above the forest —
A crisp, blue canvas patterned with milky, white clouds meets my pupils
The wispy stratus streaks give way to a display of plush cumulus clouds

Life comes to a brief standstill,
Time offers me a momentary reprieve
I relish the moment with fervor;
Greedily engorging on nature’s bounty

The requiem is fleeting, however
Fluttering wings jolt me out of my stupor,
Time marches on once more
As do I in my life’s journey
