Habits of Life

The new life growing in me is at the mercy of how I care for myself. If I smoke, my baby smokes. Since I think sheís too young to make such decisions, I decided to stop smoking. I hope my future daughter doesnít mind that I replaced that habit with a habit I began at age 12 while lying on my stomach watching a couple kiss on TV. †

Author's Note
I'm at 13 weeks now. This was my diary entry a couple of nights ago when I realized my old habit of smoking a cigarette in the afternoon was prompting more time with an old habit. My mother posted this poem by me about that earlier time in my life. https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/452320-a-miracle-to-be-repeated/
