The Hug
It was her wedding day,
and I caught her licking the casserole dish.
She hadn't noticed that a tiny bit had fallen
leaving a stain in the middle of the neckline of her gown.
I pointed at it, as her head slowly looked down,
"Oh no," she said, grabbing a damp paper towel.
"Don't worry." I replied, as I removed a heart-shaped pin
from my blouse and pinned it over the spot on her wedding gown.
"The wedding is over, no need to worry about it now." I said.
She blushed then laughed as she gave me a sisterly hug
“What would I do without you.” she said as a tear slid down her cheek.
I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her back
never realizing in fourteen years she would be gone.
