Perfect Summer Night

Eyes closed like the whispers of pillow talk
A cold front coming over the horizon making me balk
Stripping the summer heat from the earth
Lightning electrifying the air giving me mirth
A slight drizzle like a kiss upon my skin
Ever so slight like the promise of a night full of sin

When it's ripped away as the wind whips up a gale
The lightning rips the dark sea of clouds asunder without fail
Squinting against the night becoming day
Falling back into the yard I lay
Soaked to the bone
This weather reminds me of home
Rain cascading around me
Drowning the demons in my mind that never let me be
The crash of thunder
Forever making me wonder
Becoming lost in the serendipitous weather
Makes me feel grounded and all together better
