drinking

sunshine drinks the morning dew,
            as rivers drink fresh waters from the spring;
                        oceans drink hill-quickening brew
                                    and thirst for more of what spate-rivers bring.

                                                bleary men sip alcohol
                                                            on bar stools, floating on their cloud-nine dreams,
                                                            while the intellectual
                                                imbibe best-selling authors by the reams.

                                    i am wont to drink your eyes,
                        should i thus find swift passage to your heart,
            that my thirst may realise
its quenching, ere my world should fall apart.
