FUNERAL
my spine bent
and rusty
as a pulled nail
this morning
and i'm too goddamn small
for this suit --
Linda says i'm too thin
and asks if i've been sick
and i say no, just sad,
so many friends
sick
demented
dying
dead
and jesus
what's wrong
with thin
look at these
fat fucks
and she
snickers,
takes my hand
and squeezes
and, god,
she is so kind
and so beautiful
and i just want to tell her
to squeeze the joy
out of every minute
of every goddamned day
because life is never
long enough
but i know
it's just a tired
cliche
from a craggy
old boomer
saying
goodbye
to another
friend
and rusty
as a pulled nail
this morning
and i'm too goddamn small
for this suit --
Linda says i'm too thin
and asks if i've been sick
and i say no, just sad,
so many friends
sick
demented
dying
dead
and jesus
what's wrong
with thin

fat fucks
and she
snickers,
takes my hand
and squeezes
and, god,
she is so kind
and so beautiful
and i just want to tell her
to squeeze the joy
out of every minute
of every goddamned day
because life is never
long enough
but i know
it's just a tired
cliche
from a craggy
old boomer
saying
goodbye
to another
