A Petulant Plead

Please god relieve me of my throat,
My lungs ache from the burning desire for closeness.
Please take my tongue and let me never have known how to taste,
As one does not know the pleasure of something they have never endured.

Please god wipe my mind of the dust it has collected,
And rinse it gently under the tap.
Please hold my eyes and care for them kindly,
Unlike I have been.

Please god, let the pain of life
only break me
for one
moment

longer.

Author's Note
Personally, I really like the last line and I think it leaves a lot of room for thought. A final call for relief but also an acknowledgment of how we do not grow without pain and suffering. So even though the subject is ready to let go and be done with the pain, they ask that it go on for just a moment longer. Maybe so they can say "well, I tried." or maybe because some part of them isn't ready. Theres so many ways to look at it, and I hope how ever you see it fits for you.
