Radio Silence

When the quiet night gets you down.
You always like to take a walk in town.
Where you see young lovers walk around.
Holding hands and singing to the clouds.

You return home alone and you are found.
Sitting on your own without a sound.
There’s nobody in here to take you out.
So you turn to what always makes you feel drowned.

In the radio silence, the static takes your hand.
It carries you to islands covered in golden sand.

Oh, oh, radio silence, who’s coming through?
Carries along and holds on to you.
Drift in the clouds and sings you a song.
Then turns into dust and strings you along.

At the warm glow of an empty street.
The night brought you here, it guides your feet.
Sentimental thoughts run through your head.
Like wondering if anyone would notice if you were dead.

But here’s a little secret I’ll share.
Someone always notices you’re there.
Someone out there’s filled themselves with fear.
That they wouldn’t get to talk to you before you disappeared.

Oh, oh, radio silence, who’s coming through?
Carries along and holds on to you.
Drift in the clouds and sings you a song.
Then turns into dust and strings you along.

At the end of the road, there is an empty house.
Belonging to someone with no friends or spouse.
Always all alone, but still that sound is heard.
The voices of the radio fill the house with words.

Oh, oh, radio silence, who’s coming through?
Carries along and holds on to you.

Radio silence, I’m coming through.
I’ll pick you up and hold on to you.
Drift in the clouds and I’ll sing you a song.
I’ll give you a place where you can belong.
