Returning Home
Nature welcomed me back today,
As if there were no such thing as time.
Alone.
I'm returning home.
To the October sun drenched path.
I indulged in the sweet thrash of the leaves
cascading through my minds womb of peace.
Searching for the annointed trees, seized with color's
joyous wrath.
The old red barn has now collapsed, a broken pile.
Like aging disintegrates memory's miles.
Will this be the final autumn of her life?
My heart bleeds, the beginning of the end's strife.
Like a chosen leaf, I need to hang on.
To prepare to let go.
My friends, the leaves......they know my heart so
May they teach me how to gracefully fall.
I wish there really was no such thing as time.
That I could always hear your laughter chime.
Like autumn is never truly goodbye....
