the silent word

"Open your mouth only if what you are going to say is more
beautiful than the silence."—Author Unknown

there are some things i dare not say,
for they may pierce too deep
the heart on which their burdens weigh,
                              when conscience tries to sleep.
let silent inks be golden streams
                                                  that flow from gilead
                                                            to counteract the verbal screams
                                                                      and quell a myriad
of daggers thrown across the stage,
                                                            no suitor can take back.
let die the spill that will enrage,
and count it not as lack,
to place a bridle on your tongue.
and let it not be said
that fire from your drang has sprung
that left the wounded...dead.
