Image for the poem once bit

once bit

bleak mockery of who I am
echoes in my mind
angelic hecklers watch on
as I take another misstep

dark melancholy simmers
I forsake the need
and turn in on myself

keening black magic, I cast
deep knowledge of the way leads
I am a conjurer
seeking redemption

separating soul from breath
I cut the exhale
as I inhale visions

dying to the night
I fixate on my premonitions
bringing midnight to a stop
as it ticks off its last rebellion

my immortality in question
I dine on the mortal deed
suffocating the madness
in my interstellar need
renewing my thirst

I feast
