My mask

Oh, Mother how have you betrayed me
I’m not surprised that we’ve drifted apart
All that you spoke,
was that truly all what you perceived?
All my faults, all my flaws
is that only what you see?
oh don’t mind answering that,
it wouldn’t matter anymore to me.
You spoke of how all that I did,
was nothing but a charm, a fake, an illusion
all of that just to get what I want
but wasn’t that just your side of the story?
I don’t ask you to hear mine
but I ask, have you seen all those where I was truly the hero?
You claimed I wore a mask to impress the world,
how wrong could you have been?
I take it all for all those faults of mine, I do.
do you take what is yours for not being aware
of what the child you cradled truly is?
but thank you mother,
thank you for all the forgiveness, I mean it.
Thank you for giving rise to the hell of an artist that I've become.

“You said I wore a mask to hide from them and the world,
Perhaps the only mask I wore, was to hide from you.”
